In addition to new purchase I also bought this same product five years ago to use in my vegetable garden. Water passes through easily yet moisture is held in the soil very well. Weeds are effectively blocked. Cut it with a hot knife to melt the woven strands together to reduce fraying (I used a box cutter blade in vice grips and a torch to heat the blade). Occasionally edge frays need to be cleaned up using the hot knife but the labor saved from years of not weeding makes it worth it. After five years of walking on it and direct year round sun there is no sign of mechanical or UV break down (just the aforementioned edge unraveling, which is caused mostly by birds pulling at loose strands, probably for nesting material). I use 9 gauge Pinnacle Mercantile 12 Inch Galvanized Garden Staples to hold in place and they work very well.
